Independent Insurance Agency in Lake Worth Beach, FL

There is a better way to do this.

If you have been trying to figure out Florida insurance on your own… you already know how that goes.

Premiums that jump at renewal with no explanation. National brands that do not write here. Online quote forms that sell your information before you even finish typing. And a phone number that rings to someone who does not know your name, your roof, or your neighborhood.

A & J Insurance Services is an independent insurance agency on Lucerne Avenue in Lake Worth Beach. We have been placing auto, home, flood, and business insurance for Palm Beach County families and businesses since 2007. One office. Real people. No phone tree.

What "Independent" Actually Means For You

Most people do not know the difference between an independent agent and a captive agent. It matters more than you think.

A captive agent

An independent agent works for you

One of the things we hear most from clients is that their previous agent never called them back. Never reviewed their policy. Never told them when a better rate was available.

That is not how we work.

We re-shop your policies every 6 to 12 months. Not because you asked. Because that is the job.

The Problem With Going Direct or Shopping Online

You have two other options when you need insurance in Florida. And both of them come with a cost most people do not see coming.
OPTION 1

Call a national brand directly

Here is the thing about the big national names. Most of them write little or no new business in Florida right now. The ones that do often have limited carrier options for coastal properties, high-risk flood zones, or older roofs. You call, you find out they cannot help you, and you start over.

OPTION 2

Use an online quote site

You fill out the form. Your information goes to a list. And then…

“you're going to be hounded with calls for the next year or more.”

That is not our description. That is what real Palm Beach County residents say about it.

Going through a local independent agency costs you nothing extra. We are compensated by the carriers when we place your coverage. The shopping, the comparing, the explaining… all of it is free to you. You get more options, a real person, and someone who is still there when you need to make a claim.

What We Write

We are a full-service independent P&C agency. We place coverage across personal and commercial lines.

Personal Lines

Commercial Lines

If you need auto and home and flood and commercial... we handle all of it. One agency. One relationship. One call.

We Know This Market

Palm Beach County is not a standard insurance market. It never has been.
Flood zones vary block to block
Properties near the Lake Worth Lagoon and the barrier islands carry different risk profiles than a few miles inland.
Roof age drives pricing as much as location
And hurricane deductibles apply differently depending on your policy and your carrier.
Citizens may be your only option...
...or you may have more choices than you think. We know which carriers are actively writing in Palm Beach County right now.
We know what lenders require before closing
Rate cycles, non-renewals, post-storm claims, Citizens depopulation rounds — we have been through all of it since 2007.
That is not something you get from a 1-800 number.
↓ 8.8%
Citizens rate note — effective July 1, 2026

Citizens Property Insurance received OIR approval for an average rate decrease of 8.8% on homeowners multi-peril policies, effective July 1, 2026. Every Citizens personal-lines policyholder gets at least a 2% reduction. If you are currently in Citizens and have not had your policy reviewed recently, it is worth a conversation.

We Are Here When Something Goes Wrong

Getting covered is the easy part. The hard part is what happens after a claim.

Wind versus water disputes. Carriers that are slow to respond. Adjusters who give you a number that does not come close to your actual loss. Policy language that nobody explained to you at the time you bought the coverage.

We walk you through the claims process before it starts. We make sure you understand what your policy covers, what the deductibles are, and what to expect when you call your carrier. And when you call us during a claim… we answer.

What Our Clients Say

Over 90% of our new clients come from referrals. People send us their family members, their coworkers, their neighbors. Not because we asked. Because they wanted to.

How this agency started

Roberto earned his 2-20 license in 2007 after watching how the industry worked up close. He saw agents who prioritized commissions over clients. He decided to do it differently. The agency has been built entirely on referrals since then… which tells you everything you need to know about how that approach has worked out.

Questions People Ask Us

A captive agent represents one insurance company. An independent agent like A & J works with multiple carriers and can shop your coverage across the market to find what fits your situation and your budget. You get more options and you keep the same agent relationship regardless of which carrier places your policy.
No. Independent agents are compensated by the carriers when they place coverage. There is no extra charge to you for the shopping, the comparing, or the service. You pay the same premium you would pay going direct… and you get an agent who works for you, not the carrier.
Personal auto, homeowners, renters, landlord/rental property, flood (placed through Wright Flood), boat and marine, motorcycles, RVs, campers, ATVs, golf carts, business property, general liability, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, professional liability/E&O, and cyber security insurance. If you need multiple lines, we handle all of them.
Yes. That is one of the most common calls we get. When a carrier non-renews or Citizens depopulates a book of policies, we go back to the market and find your options. We know which carriers are actively writing in Palm Beach County right now and what they need to quote your property.
At a minimum, every 12 months. The Florida market moves. Carriers enter and exit. Rates change. We re-shop our clients’ policies every 6 to 12 months automatically… so you are not paying more than you need to just because nobody checked.
Yes. Roberto is fluent in English and Spanish. Many of our clients in Lake Worth Beach and Palm Beach County prefer to work in Spanish and we are comfortable either way.
Just call. (561) 586-4955. We are here Monday through Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. Real people answer during business hours.
Flood zones in Florida are specific to your address. Standard homeowners policies do not cover flood… ever. We place flood insurance through Wright Flood and can help you understand your zone and your options. For the full picture on NFIP, private flood, and excess flood coverage in Florida, see our Florida flood insurance page.
A combination of hurricane exposure, litigation history, reinsurance costs, and a smaller number of carriers actively writing in the state. The market has shown signs of stabilization in 2025 and 2026, with Citizens receiving an approved rate decrease and more private carriers returning to Florida. The best thing you can do is make sure you are getting the right coverage at the right rate… which is what an independent agent is for. For more on the Florida home insurance market, see our homeowners insurance page.

The Honest Version of What We Do

We shop the market. We explain the coverage. We answer the phone. And we are here when you need us… not just when you are buying.

If you are overpaying, we will tell you. If your current coverage has a gap, we will find it. If you had a bad experience with another agent or a carrier, we will listen to what happened and help you get it right this time.

No pressure. No upsell. No selling your information to anyone.

We have been doing this in Lake Worth Beach since 2007. We plan to be here a long time.

One call. Real people. Since 2007.

Monday through Friday 9am to 6pm. Saturday 10am to 4pm. Real people. Every time.
